Maybank Islamic’s RM3.77 million food boxes benefit 14,546 families, 13 countries
In conjunction with Ramadhan, Maybank Islamic Berhad recently distributed RM3.77 million worth of food boxes to 14,546 families in 13 countries under its annual flagship flood relief programme, Regional Ramadhan Relief (RRR).
The provided food supplies comprises basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, flour, sugar and other essential food items that are typically needed during the fasting month.
Alongside Yayasan Ikhlas, MERCY Malaysia, Islamic Relief Malaysia and Hikmah Islamiah Sarawak, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme reaffirms the bank’s commitment towards supporting communities in need during the Holy Month.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maybank Islamic, Mohamad Yasin Abdullah said, the bank has always been committed to initiatives that benefit all levels of society whether through social programmes or financial solutions.

The handover ceremony was held on 15th February 2026 at Masjid Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar Kedah and attended by 80 beneficiaries.
“This programme is indeed one of them, which is truly in tandem with our purpose of impacting society positively.
“We are grateful to be able to continue this programme year after year and share sustenance to those in need.
“It is our hope that our contribution would somewhat alleviate the burden of these families for the upcoming month of Ramadhan,” he said during the RRR handover ceremony at Masjid Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar, Kedah.
According to the company, Alor Setar was selected for the ceremony due to its mix of urban, semi-urban and peri-urban communities where 780 families in Kedah were recipients of the RRR food boxes.

Also present at the ceremony were Maybank Islamic Chairman, Datuk Zulkiflee Abbas; Yayasan Ikhlas Chairman, Prof Dr Azmi Md Nor, and Deputy CEO (Operation) of Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah, Dr. Mohd Faisal bin Mustaffa.
For the record, the Malaysian-born initiative had seen close to RM25 million worth of food supplies distribution globally since its launch in 2013, helping 133,552 families living in poverty during the Holy Month.
Aside from Malaysia, the participating countries include UAE, Palestine, Timor Leste, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Brunei, Thailand and Myanmar.
This year, Maybank Islamic is allocating an estimated RM35 million for CSR initiatives such as education programmes, humanitarian aid and community empowerment, both locally and internationally.
